STATISTICS ABOUT ORGAN DONATION AND TISSUE DONATION

As of March 2014 over 120,000 men, women and children in the United States are on the transplant waiting list. 
Over 2,600 Tennesseans on the waiting list as of March 2014 
Over 1,000 people are added to the national waiting list each month 
In the year 2013 there were 28,951 lifesaving transplants in the United States. 
In the year 2013 there were 796 Life Saving transplants in Tennessee 
18 people die every day waiting for a life-saving organ transplant! 
In 2013, 133 Tennesseans died while on the transplant waiting list. 
More than 45,000 corneas were transplanted in the United States 
More than 1 million tissue transplants are done each year and the surgical need for tissue has been steadily rising

FACTS ABOUT ORGAN & TISSUE DONATION 
Your eligibility as a donor will be evaluated by trained medical personnel at time of death. 
There is no cost to being an organ donor to the family 
Most major religions support donation 
Organ and tissue donors can have an open casket funeral
